No Reviews yet as IOS gamers have been eagerly awaiting the debut of Infinity Blade: Dungeons since it was first shown off by Epic Games during Apple’s March iPad unveiling. Bu t nearly eight months later, the sword-fighting RPG has yet to appear in the iTunes App Store. Its ship date wasn’t announced at Apple’s recent iPhone 5 event, though many expected that it might be. And now some are speculating that we’ll see the prequel to Infinity Blade released alongside the so-called iPad Mini on Oct. 23.
Sadly, that’s not the case. Infinity Blade aficionados are going to have to wait a little longer to forge their giant axe and use it to beat a dungeon full of grotesqueries into submission. Epic Games tells AllThingsD not to expect Dungeons to ship until next year.
“Ever since the talented team at Impossible Studios got their hands on Infinity Blade: Dungeons, they’ve been busy adding their great ideas to the game,” spokesman Wes Phillips told AllThingsD. “There was also the matter of getting the Impossible Studios team up and running with desks, chairs, staplers and computers. The logistics of a new studio and implementing all these great ideas required a little extra time, so Infinity Blade: Dungeons will hit iOS in 2013.”
That will come as disappointing news to gamers hoping Epic would ship the title before the end of the year. But presumably the wait will pay off with the sort of best-in-class visuals and game play that typifies the franchise. Sources say the team working on the game has more than a few Gears of War vets …
Impossible Studios' hack-and-slash Infinity Blade spin-off game, Infinity Blade: Dungeons, won't be available for iOS devices until 2013, Epic Games confirms (via AllThingsD). There was much fanfare in March 2012 when the game was first announced alongside the latest version of the iPad, but we've heard little more than whispers since then.
Epic spokesperson Wes Phillips confirms the 2013 release plan, explaining that the new studio first needed to be assembled before development could begin. He doesn't offer a more specific release timeframe than 2013, so don't start marking off the calendar just year. I hear that we've still got a few big games coming out over the next several months, so maybe you'll be able to occupy yourself with one of those in the meantime.
